DON BOSCO HIGH SCHOOL, BORIVILI - STD VIII Value Orientation Program

DON BOSCO HIGH SCHOOL, BORIVILI - STD VIII VALUE ORIENTATION PROGRAM
August 29, 2012: For the third consecutive day, AVEC organized a Value Orientation Program at Don Bosco High School, Borivili for One Hundred and Twenty students of Standard Eight. Fr. Glenford Lowe, Director of AVEC was warmly welcomed by Fr. Allwyn Misquitta, Administrator of the School.  The Princiapl, Fr. George Carlos also was present to welcome Fr. Glenn and he invited the students to make the best of the the opportunity given to them.
The session was divided into three parts. The first focused on the Power of God's Grace in one's life and one's Time. A prayer song, 'Sarweshaam Swastir Bhavatu' set the prayerful tone that was needed for a focus on the theme: 'Lead Your Life by a Value Compass'. The students were then taken through a brief moment of reflection on the gift of life and the power of one's breath. He then took the students through a personal reflection on 'MY NOW MOMENT'. The students were asked to write about their 'NOW' moment, the Colour of the life, the Face of their life, the Season of their life, the World of their life and the God of their life. They then spent a few minutes sharing with their classmates on their 'Now' moment. It was interesting to see the students talk to one another about their personal life story!
In the second part of the session, in challenging the students to get 'MAD - Make A Difference', Fr. Glenn invited to students to stop living a 'life of mere survival' and start living a  'life of Meaning and Significance' by using the Twelve Diamond Values. "With this Value compass in Life you can never get lost", he said. He focused on the need to : Ask Meaning Questions, Have a Winner Attitude, Think TEAM, Effective Communication, Exude Confidence, Hone Creativity, Motivation and Leading Others, Accept Criticisms, MultiTasking and Keep Schedules, Tell the Truth about Money, Live a Balanced Life and Think Abundance! Through these Diamond Values the students were challenged to be 'Light house' students rather than being mere 'wheel barrows' and 'bouncing magic balls' with no inner drive or direction in life.
In the final session, the students were invited to 'align their life and their time'. 'Only those who have the capacity to reset their life or reset their clock' can start making a difference. "If you keep doing what you always did, you will get what you always got", he said. The students really took the day seriously and actively took part in all the activities and moments for sharing and deep reflections too. At the end of the session, a number of students came forward to express their words of thanks and appreciation. On behalf of the class, Matthew and Mihir proposed the Vote of Thanks.

DON BOSCO HIGH SCHOOL, BORIVILI: STD X VALUE ORIENTATION

DON BOSCO HIGH SCHOOL, BORIVILI: STD X VALUE ORIENTATION
August 28, 2012: The AVEC Team today organized a One-day Value Orientation Program for One Hundred and Twenty Three Students of Standard Ten at Don Bosco High School, Borivili. The session began with a word of appreciation and welcome from Fr. Allwyn Misquitta, Administrator and acting principal of the school. The theme for the day’s session was “Lead your Life by a Value Compass”. The session was divided into three sections.
In the first section, Mr. Rochwyn Fernandes, AVEC Program Coordinator, invited the students to join in a prayer song ‘Sarveshaam Swastir Bhavatu’ that invoked God’s blessings of peace, prosperity, love, joy, fullness, health on everyone. This was followed by a moment of fantasy meditation. The students were asked to focus on their breath and visualize an inner journey to bliss and restfulness. The session truly enabled the students to relax and calm down. Mr. Fernandes then introduced Fr. Glenn to the students.
The second part of the session focused on: The Three Types of Student – Lighthouse, Wheelbarrow or Magic Bouncing ball Students. “Unless you are built of a firm foundation with an inner capacity to radiate light and save lives, your life will be meaningless and directionless”, said Fr. Glenn. Through the ‘Paper Exercise’ the students were able to focus on the gift of the past and the joy of the future. “Never let your past remain as your future, and let not your future be thrown behind you as past”, challenged Fr. Glenn.
“Leading your Life by a Value Compass” was an opportunity for the students to look at ‘Twelve Important Diamond Values’ that would enable everyone to live life not on the level of survival, but rather, on the level of meaning and significance. In his own creative style, Fr. Glenn spoke in a clear but strong way, through the use of PowerPoint presentations, personal life testimonies; everyday student based examples and coupled with a lot of humour
The final part of the session was the culmination. The students were challenged to ‘Reset their Clock and Reset their Life’ by focusing on what was worth living for and dying for in one’s life and investing one’s personal time on it. “Resetting the clock and compass was a sure path to transform your ‘trashed up past life’ to discovering the treasure within the future ahead of you. The students took the time to make three commitments that would enable them to become MAD – Make A Difference!

DON BOSCO HIGH SCHOOL, BORIVILI: STD IX VALUE ORIENTATION

DON BOSCO HIGH SCHOOL, BORIVILI: STD IX VALUE EDUCATION ORIENTATION
August 27, 2012: Fr. Glenford Lowe sdb and Mr. Rochwyn Fernandes today animated one hundred and nine students of standard nine from Don Bosco High School Borivili. The session began with a few words of welcome and introduction by Fr. Allwyn Misquitta, Administrator and Spiritual Animator of the youth. The theme for the day was 'Lead Your Life by a Value Compass'. The students were realy fortunate to be given the luxury of an entire day for the 'Value Orientation Program'
A prayer song 'Sarveshaam Swastir Bhavatu' set the spiritual tone to the session. Mr. Rochwyn Fernandes then enabled the students to relax and calm down through a fantasy meditation that also focused on one's breath and imagination. It was nice to see the students participate in the meditation with silence and concentration. Fr. Glenn was then introduced to the students.
The 'Lead Your Life by a Value Compass' was taken in three parts. The first session focused on one's personal handling of the past and the creation of one's future and how, in an instant of 'unreflected choices', the past continues to remain one's future, and how one's future is lost in one's past. The students were challenged to discover in the 'trash' of an unreflected life, the 'treasure' that still lies within. "Living by a Value Compass' is the way to turn your trash into treasure", said Fr. Glenn
The second part of the session was an opportunity to focus on Twelve Value based principles and skills. Through a variety of video clips, a PowerPoint presentation, small interactive moments and periods of deep introspection, coupled with a touch of humor, the students were taken through a journey of life that involved more the 'sense of direction' than the 'speed of life' in order to reach one's goals. The students took part in the entire session with a lot of attention and active participation.
In the final part of the session, the students were taken through a moment to 'resetting one's life and one's clock'. "Focus on what is important to your life and the rest will follow. You are loved and Valued. Once you make a better you, you make a better world too", said Fr. Glenn. Get MAD...Make a Difference! You have one life to life, live it well with a Difference...
