HOLY CROSS HIGH SCHOOL, JUHU TARA
VALUE ORIENTATION FOR STUDENTS
January 18, 2012: The Archdiocesan Value Education Centre (AVEC – Mumbai) began the New Year 2012 with a two hour Value Education session at Holy Cross High School, Juhu Tara, for hundred and eight students belonging to STD IX –X. Fr. Edmund Mascarenhas, Principal of the school warmly welcomed the resource personnel, Fr. Glenford Lowe and Mr. Rochwyn Fernandes to the program.

Mr. Rochwyn Fernandes began the session with a Prayer Song that focused on the presence of God in all things. He then invited the students to connect with the ‘Woodcutter Story’ by taking the time to make an inward journey through a silent fantasy meditation. All praise to the students who were able to go through these moments of self awareness with a lot of seriousness.

Through a number of practical examples, video clips and an illustrative PowerPoint presentation, Fr. Glenford Lowe, was able to capture the minds and hearts of the young students to look at their life’s journey and to have the courage to re-set the clock of their activity to sync with their life’s story. The personal sharing by the students and the insights into the various values that are essential ingredients for a fruitful and meaningful life were well appreciated by all. The level of sharing was sincere, deep and very personal; even to the point of tears.

Ms. Ursula Rodrigues proposed the vote of thanks on behalf of the students and management. One could sense a new spirit of optimism and hope among the students, especially the final year Std X students.

A few students have expressed their thoughts on today’s Value Education program:
“A small but powerful session that taught us many things and values; I know how ‘important’ I am now.” Vrunali (IX)
“The program was very interesting and challenging. We learnt a lot of important Values for our Life. God bless you.” Pravin (X)
“It was a great stress-buster after our prelims. We will inculcate all the values that you have spoken to us today.” Nireeksha (X)
“I am very grateful to have had this opportunity to listen to your kind words of inspiration. I will follow these Values in my life. God Bless you.” Ankirn (X)

AVEC wishes to thank the Management, Fr. Edmund Mascarenhas and the students of Holy Cross High School, Juhu Tara and assures the students of STD X a prayerful remembrance for a fruitful SCC Examination.
