Sr. Suchitra invited Fr. Leon Rodrigues sdb, the director of AVEC to speak to the parents of Apostolic Carmel, High School Bandra on the occasion of their annual PTA meeting.

On the occasion Fr. Leon spoke on the topic ‘tools for effective parenting’ and highlighted that the role of the parent is to help the child face the world once she becomes an adult and hence children needed to be treated with respect and love.

He enlightened the parents on the A-Z of parenting and also helped them to understand their adolescent children.

Value Ed Session

5th-6th July

The Avec Team conducted Value-Ed sessions for the students of Std IX to Std XII.

The Session was taken by Fr. Leon Rodrigues, Mr. Joshua Fernandes and Mr. Aditya Salunke.

Fr. Leon started the proceedings by invoking the name of God. He helped the students to meditate and become aware of themselves. Then through games and presentations he helped them understand the meaning of life. He stated that life is beautiful and that no one has the right to reject life even though one goes through various hardships.

Group discussion sessions were  conducted by Joshua and Aditya. Drawing their inspiration from the pencil they helped the students to understand that hardships and difficulties are necessary steps towards success in life.

The session ended with a vote of thanks.

Leadership Session

The students of  Our Lady of Good Counsel, Sion participated in a leadership orientation programme conducted by Fr. Leon Rodrigues and Mr. Joshua Fernandes. The students took part in various reflective activities that helped them to view leadership from a different perspective. They were first introduced to the concept of a leader and were helped to identify the characteristics of a leader. Then with the help of building the biggest tower, the students were asked to put these learnt qualities into practice.


The teacher gave a vote of thanks on behalf of the students.

40 BSW students of Nirmala Niketan College attended a session conducted by Fr. Leon Rodrigues.

The session focused on one's direction in life. Where are we heading? Do we have a goal in life?

With the help of a number of life examples and personal interactions the students  were able to understand that our life has meaning. They were able to gauge that life has been when we desire to make the world a better place.
                                                  

The session ended  with a vote of thanks.

The Avec Team organized a value education session for the students of Holy Mary Convent School.

The Session was taken by Fr. Leon Rodrigues, who gave a talk on the meaning of life and that life is beautiful and worth living even after the various hardships we go through.

The  session started with a short prayer service and words of welcome. The students were very interactive during the session.The group discussion session was enjoyed the most. At the end of the session a vote of thanks was given by a student.

 Fr. Leon Rodrigues sdb and Fr. Cleophas sdb along with Rochwyn Fernandes went to Loretto Convent, Chembur to give a session to the teachers.

Mr. Rochwyn conducted the meditation for the teachers to help them calm down before the input session.

Fr. Cleophas conducted the first session entitled 'Brain based Learning'. He helped the teachers understand the theoretical side of teaching through apt method and techniques.

Fr. Leon conducted the session after the break and focused his attention on the practical side of education. Through discussions and active involvement of the teachers he helped understand the nuances of the educating method.

Fr. Leon along with Mr. Rochwyn Fernandes went to Sacred Heart High school, Vashi to conduct a teacher's orientation programme this morning.

Mr. Rochwyn began the session by asking the teachers to place their lives in God's hands. He then led them through a meditation.

Fr. Leon Rodrigues, the New Director of the AVEC then began with his sessions. He helped the teachers get in touch with themselves. He asked them 'why' they were into this profession? He helped them understand that theirs is a vocation and not a profession.

He helped the teachers understand that there is a difference between teaching life and the curriculum.
